The American Craftworks Collection

American Craftworks Collection offers a broad selection of American crafts and fine art.  The collection blends contemporary crafts by our country's finest craftsmen with traditional crafts from the League of Maryland Craftsmen.

Located on Main Street in Historic Annapolis, Maryland, this spacious 3,000 foot gallery is an ever changing exciting place to visit.

  

The gallery celebrates fine craftsmanship in a brightly colored setting.  It is a feast for the eyes.  Whether your interest is in wood, art glass, pottery, sculpture, fiber or jewelry, the American Craftworks Collection provides a unique shopping experience for everyone.  The gallery represents over 400 established and emerging artists.

  

 American Craftworks Collection
is owned and operated by Kelly Richard.  Kelly believes that her ownership of the League of Maryland Craftsmen and the American Craftworks Collection was probably set in the stars.   
It all just came together so easily. One day in 1996 her husband, Kerry Smith, said, "Wouldn't it be nice if we could own something like the League of Maryland Craftsmen where we can combine your fine art experience and my business experience?"

That same day she received a call from the owners asking if she was interested in buying the League. Six years later at a fine craft show, she asked Kerry if he thought it would be "crazy" to open a second store featuring some of the other wonderful handmade work from across the United States. They agreed that this would make infinite sense, and signed a lease to open the new store the week before the 9/11 tragedy. Despite the poor timing, the new store has been very well received, and the two stores were combined into a beautiful 3,000 square foot space on Main Street in Annapolis, Maryland.

Kelly, a sculptor, graphic designer and illustrator, has lived in the Washington Metropolitan Area for over 30 years and has been selling fine crafts for over 13 years with Kerry, who is an ordained minister and an energy engineer.  She became familiar with the League of Maryland Craftsmen when she sold her artwork there. She says that working with the artists is wonderful, "there is just so much creative energy and ingenuity in our country". The gallery continues to be successful because of the wonderfully knowledgeable and discerning buyers who frequent it. They know quality and truly appreciate the products we provide.
